Our focus is on building capable, engaged teams and delivering consistent performance in fast-paced, complex environments.
About the role
Are you a people-focused organiser who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment?
We’re looking for a driven and hands-on People Consultant to join our team at The Kia Oval, home of Surrey County Cricket Club.
You’ll play a key role in building and supporting our Culinary and Back of House workforce, working closely with chefs, kitchen teams, operational leaders and our wider Constellation team.
From recruitment and onboarding through to workforce planning, rotas and live event support, you’ll make sure we have the right people in the right place at the right time.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll build relationships, solve problems and make a real difference to the experience of our people and the success of our events.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead end-to-end staffing for culinary and BOH roles, including Chefs, Kitchen Porters and support staff.
- Plan and forecast staffing requirements around matchdays, events and operational demand.
- Manage bookings, rotas and live staffing changes through Ubeya.
- Work with our Resourcing team to attract, assess and onboard great candidates.
- Match people to roles based on skills, experience and suitability.
- Build strong relationships with culinary leaders, venue teams and our workforce.
- Support staff engagement, attendance, performance and wellbeing.
- Be hands-on during matchdays and major events, managing check-ins, deployments, last-minute changes, no-shows and urgent cover.
- Maintain accurate staffing, attendance and compliance records.
- Use workforce data and reporting to identify opportunities to improve staffing and operational delivery.
- Ensure all activity meets relevant right-to-work, food safety, health & safety and employment requirements.
- Work collaboratively across the Oval team and provide support and cover where required.
- Act as the onsite point of contact in the absence of the Constellation Lead, resolving issues and escalating where appropriate.
What we’re looking for
- You’ll have at least 1 year’s experience in hospitality, events, staffing, recruitment or workforce planning, together with:
- Experience coordinating 100+ workers weekly, including recruitment, onboarding, bookings and rotas.
- An understanding of hospitality and Back of House operations, particularly culinary roles.
- Confidence using workforce management systems, recruitment platforms, Excel and digital tools.
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple events, priorities and deadlines.
- Experience handling last-minute staffing changes, no-shows and urgent cover.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience supporting staff engagement, attendance, performance and wellbeing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions and take ownership.
- Experience working to KPIs, SLAs or staffing targets, with an understanding of labour costs and operational efficiency.
- A good understanding of right-to-work, food safety and health & safety requirements.
- Full flexibility to work 5 days out of 7, including evenings, weekends and occasional bank holidays.
- Able to commute to The Kia Oval on a daily basis.
The working pattern
This is a 40-hour, 5-day-out-of-7 role, with regular evening and weekend working and occasional bank holidays to support the matchday and event schedule.
The role is primarily onsite at The Kia Oval 5 days per week, working alongside the wider team on a planned shift pattern. Your schedule will be communicated in advance wherever possible.
Occasional support at other Constellation venues may be required with reasonable notice.
We take a flexible approach to working patterns, balancing the needs of the business with flexibility for our people.
What’s in it for you?
