At The Hare & Hounds in Newbury, a welcoming 17th‑century coaching inn with 30 boutique bedrooms, a traditional pub bar, and an excellent reputation for relaxed but impeccable service, we’re looking for a reliable and attentive Night Porter to support the guest experience overnight.
You’ll be the reassuring presence that keeps everything running, whether guests are arriving late from the A34, preparing for an early departure, or staying in one of our charming buildings — the Stables, Paddocks, Hunters Lodge or Coach House. The working pattern will be 4 nights on, 4 nights off.

🎯 What You’ll Do
As Night Porter, you’ll help ensure guests enjoy comfort and peace of mind throughout the night:
🛎️ Assist late arrivals and early departures – Offering a warm, professional welcome
🔐 Oversee safety and security – Regular checks of doors, buildings and guest areas
🧼 Light overnight cleaning – Keeping public spaces tidy and guest‑ready for morning
📋 Complete nightly tasks & checklists – Including simple admin duties
☕ Support early breakfast setup – Helping the team prepare the first service of the day
📦 Assist with laundry or housekeeping tasks when needed
🤝 Provide a smooth handover to the morning team
