Junior Sous Chef – The Hare and Hounds, Speen

At The Hare and Hounds in Speen, we’re looking for a passionate, driven Junior Sous Chef to help deliver exceptional food in our busy, much‑loved village pub.


As Junior Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with our Sous and Head Chef, take responsibility for sections during service, and help guide junior members of the team — all while continuing to develop your skills in a supportive, creative kitchen environment.

What You Bring

We’re looking for a chef with both skill and ambition — someone eager to learn, lead, and grow.

  • Experience as a strong CDP or existing Junior Sous Chef
  • Passion for seasonal cooking and working with quality ingredients
  • Confidence running a section during busy services
  • Leadership skills and the ability to support junior chefs
  • Strong organisation and efficiency in prep and service
  • A collaborative, positive approach to teamwork
  • Commitment to consistency in taste, presentation, and food safety


What You’ll Do

As Junior Sous Chef at The Hare and Hounds, you’ll play a key role in delivering quality and consistency:

  • Run sections confidently, leading prep and service with precision
  • Support senior chefs and help oversee the brigade during busy services
  • Maintain high prep standards and ensure your section is service‑ready
  • Assist with stock management, ordering, rotation, and waste reduction
  • Uphold excellent hygiene and safety standards
  • Train and support junior team members, helping them grow in confidence and skill
  • Contribute ideas for specials and menu development
