We are looking for an experienced and confident Hospitality Bar Team Leader to join our matchday hospitality team at Northampton Saints.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy, high-energy hospitality environment and has the leadership skills to deliver an exceptional bar service to our hospitality guests.
The Role
As Hospitality Bar Team Leader, you will take responsibility for the smooth running of the hospitality bar on matchdays, leading and supporting a team of up to 10 bar staff.
You will ensure the team delivers excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of bar operation, presentation, stock control and responsible alcohol service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and manage a team of up to 10 hospitality bar staff.
- Take responsibility for the smooth running of the bar throughout the matchday.
- Brief the team before service and allocate staff to appropriate positions.
- Ensure consistently high standards of customer service.
- Have excellent knowledge of alcoholic beverages, including beers, wines, spirits, cocktails and mixers typically served within a hospitality bar environment.
- Be confident recommending drinks and answering guest questions about beverages.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and company procedures are followed.
- Deal confidently and professionally with customer queries or complaints.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation.
- Work closely with the wider hospitality and event management teams.
- Lead by example and remain calm and professional during busy service periods.
- Support with opening and closing procedures as required.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Bar Supervisor, Bar Team Leader, Bar Manager or Senior Bartender.
- Experience working in hospitality, events, stadiums, hotels, restaurants or high-volume bars.
- Strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages and bar service.
- Previous experience managing or supervising a team.
- The ability to confidently manage a team of up to 10 people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional, approachable and customer-focused manner.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A good understanding of responsible alcohol service.
- A hands-on approach — this is a role where you will lead from the front and be actively involved in service.
Essential Matchday Availability
You must be able to commit to all Northampton Saints home matchdays throughout the 2026/27 season.
This is an essential requirement of the role. Home matchdays may take place on evenings, Saturdays and Sundays, and successful applicants must be able to commit to the required matchday schedule.
