As our Group Technical Reporting Accountant, you’ll be part of the Group Finance team working closely with brilliant people across the business and reporting into Head of Group Reporting. You’ll be right at the heart of fast‑moving projects that shape how we show up for our consumers - today and tomorrow.
WHERE YOU CONTRIBUTE
The Group Technical Reporting Accountant is the subject matter expert for technical accounting and external reporting across Dr. Martens. You lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements under IFRS, manage complex technical areas, and ensure compliance with evolving accounting standards. This role sets the tone for governance and control, driving consistency and accuracy across global reporting processes.
You will partner with auditors, Investor Relations, Sustainability, FP&A, Risk, and Governance teams to deliver high-quality statutory reporting and disclosures. By embedding robust processes and standardisation, you enable leadership to make informed decisions and support the company’s growth ambitions. Your remit includes shaping technical accounting policies, managing audit interactions, and ensuring the integrity of strategic KPIs such as revenue, gross margin, EBIT, Opex, and operating leverage.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
As our Group Technical Reporting Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Owning the Group’s external reporting process, delivering half-year and full-year consolidated financial statements and Annual Report & Accounts in line with IFRS requirements.
- Leading technical accounting across complex areas (e.g., impairments, IFRS 16, IFRS 2, foreign currency and segmental reporting), preparing clear papers for senior stakeholders, Audit Committee and auditors.
- Managing the audit process end-to-end, coordinating deliverables, resolving technical queries and ensuring timely statutory reporting.
- Driving reporting excellence by enhancing controls, automation and efficiency, while partnering with Regional Finance teams to ensure high-quality IFRS-compliant submissions.
- Supporting Investor Relations and strategic finance initiatives, while coaching and developing team members to strengthen capability across Group Reporting.
KEY SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
Put simply, the key things we’re looking for are:
- ACA qualified with 2–4 years PQE, with experience in large organisations (ideally listed group reporting or Big 4 audit background).
- Deep IFRS expertise, with strong knowledge of consolidation and disclosure requirements and the ability to interpret and apply new standards.
- Strong audit and governance experience, including managing external audits and preparing technical papers for senior stakeholders.
- Proven leadership and influencing capability, with the ability to coach others and partner effectively across global finance and non-finance teams.
- Highly analytical with strong systems and data capability, and a continuous improvement mindset to enhance reporting, controls and process efficiency.
