We are currently recruiting freelance Desktop Publishers (DTP) to work on a self-employed, freelance basis, supporting our growing portfolio of multilingual projects across a wide range of sectors.

Types of Projects You May Work On
Assignments may include, but are not limited to, desktop publishing and formatting of multilingual content in the following areas:
- Commercial / Business documents
- Asylum and Refugee Services
- Human Rights and NGO publications
- Modern Day Slavery documentation
- Local Authorities and Social Services
- Social Housing / Social Security
- Legal and Medical/Healthcare materials
- Employment, Education, and Training content
- Finance and Banking
- Food & Drink and Agriculture
- Marketing and Promotional materials
- Construction and Manufacturing
- Retail / E-commerce
- Subtitles, on-screen text, and multimedia layouts
- Transcreation and multilingual branding assets
- Other specialist document types
What we expect from our linguists
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a Desktop Publisher in the language services industry
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience handling multilingual layouts, including non-Latin scripts where applicable
- Ability to follow style guides, brand guidelines, and client specifications
- High attention to detail and strong quality-control skills
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Comfortable working with CAT tools and translation-related file formats
- Strong communication skills in English
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of additional DTP or graphic tools (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro)
- Experience working with right-to-left languages and complex scripts
- Familiarity with translation workflows and file preparation for linguists
- Understanding of localisation and internationalisation best practices
- Enthusiasm for learning new tools, formats, and processes
Qualifications and Experience
You should have demonstrable professional experience in desktop publishing, ideally within the translation or localisation industry. Formal qualifications in graphic design, publishing, or related fields are beneficial but not essential if supported by strong professional experience.
You Must Also Be Able to Provide
- Evidence that you are eligible to work in the UK (if UK-based)
- A valid DBS certificate (or willingness to apply if UK-based)
- or a Police Check Certificate (if non-UK based)
- Two professional references
- Agreement to complete a DTP test task free of charge
