Finance Director (maternity cover)
This will be a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover role, starting in July 2026
About The Ned:
The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time.
The Ned launched in 2017 in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The Ned City of London houses Ned’s Club, a private members’ space, gym and rooftop, alongside a public spa, a full floor of events spaces, ten restaurants and bars and 250 hotel bedrooms.
Since then, The Ned has expanded internationally, with properties in New York, Washington DC and Doha, and further growth underway.
Where you’ll be working:
You’ll be mainly based out of The Ned London, located in the beautiful old Midland Bank (there isn’t a nicer building in the city, but we’re biased). We’re five days a week in the office, as we’re very relationship-focussed and it’s just not the same on a screen.
As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will:
- Lead the financial performance of The Ned City of London, ensuring strong control, clear insight and a relentless focus on profitability
- Partner with the Group Managing Director and senior leaders to shape strategy, challenge thinking and support better decision making
- Drive the budgeting and forecasting process, making sure plans are robust, realistic and aligned to business priorities
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insight that leaders across the business can actually use
- Own financial reporting, controls and governance, ensuring accuracy, compliance and high standards at all times
- Work closely with operational teams across hotel, food and beverage and membership to improve performance and unlock opportunities
- Support investment decisions, new concepts and commercial initiatives with strong financial modelling and analysis
- Build and lead a high performing finance team, creating a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement
- Partner with global finance teams on expansion, new openings and group initiatives
- Maintain strong relationships with ownership, auditors and external partners
What you can bring to the role:
- You’re a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant experience operating at a senior leadership level
- You’ve led financial performance in a complex, multi revenue stream business, ideally within hospitality, lifestyle or a similar fast paced environment
- You think commercially first, using data to influence decisions rather than just report on them
- You’re confident challenging senior stakeholders and can hold your own in a room where decisions move quickly
- You balance detail and big picture thinking, knowing when to get into the numbers and when to step back
- You’ve built and led strong teams, setting high standards while developing capability
- You’re pragmatic, solutions focused and comfortable operating in an environment that doesn’t stand still
What can The Ned give you?
- Salary of up to £125,000, subject to experience
- Every House membership to Soho House and membership of Ned’s Club
- Wellbeing and health benefits to keep you in top shape, including private medical and dental insurance (family cover), and Benefit Bank through Reward Gateway
- 6% company pension contribution and life assurance
- 33 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), your birthday off after a year of service and more holiday after five years
- Enhanced parental leave and company sick pay
- Complimentary meals in our friendly team restaurant, Neddy’s
- Exciting learning and development programmes
- Exclusive rates at The Ned for staying and eating for you, your family and friends
- Paid volunteer day
- Regular social events, including our annual pool party
- Employee assistance programme and reward and recognition initiatives
At The Ned, we don't just celebrate our diversity, we challenge ourselves to do even better. The Ned is committed to being the best place to work, and ensuring that we have a leading diversity, equity and inclusion programme is central to making that vision a reality.
