BOX WAITING STAFF


Are you a hospitality professional with a passion for delivering world-class service? We’re looking for confident, enthusiastic, and professional individuals to join our Conference and Events team at one of the UK’s most iconic venues.


The The Kia Oval isn’t just a world-renowned cricket ground — it’s a vibrant hub of hospitality, history, and high-profile events. Home to Surrey County Cricket Club, the Oval hosts everything from international Test matches and T20s to corporate functions, gala dinners, and private celebrations.


Working Hours

Shifts are typically 8-10 hours per day. In order to be considered, you must be available for the International Matches below:


International Test Match

  • Wednesday 17th June
  • Thursday 18th June
  • Friday 19th June
  • Saturday 20th June
  • Sunday 21st June


International Women’s World Cup

  • Saturday 27th June
  • Tuesday 30th June
  • Thursday 2nd July


One Day International Match

  • Sunday 27th September


Role Responsibilities


1. Guest Experience

  • Welcome guests into the box and act as their main point of contact
  • Build rapport quickly – often corporate clients or VIPs
  • Anticipate needs (drinks, food, timing of service)


2. Food & Beverage Service

  • Serve food (canapés, plated meals, buffets depending on package)
  • Pour drinks (wine, champagne, soft drinks – sometimes bar service)
  • Clear tables discreetly and efficiently


3. Suite Management

  • Keep the box clean, organised, and well-presented throughout the event
  • Monitor stock levels (drinks, glassware, condiments)
  • Coordinate timings with kitchen and runners


4. Professionalism & Standards

  • Maintain high grooming and uniform standards
  • Deliver a polished, discreet service (especially with high-profile guests)


Requirements

  • Over 18s only
  • Minimum 6 months’ plate waiting experience in a restaurant, hospitality venue or similar role
  • Fine-dining, hospitality, and customer service experience essential
  • Ability to remain calm during high-volume periods
  • Confidence when interacting with guests
  • Enthusiastic and energetic approach
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Good initiative when working independently

As this is an active role, you must be comfortable with walking and standing for the majority of your shift.
