The key role of the Artificial Intelligence & Big Data Academic Leader is to deliver up to 15 hours of high-quality tuition per week as part of the Morning Academic programme. Reporting to the Course Director and Director of Studies, the role involves planning and delivering engaging, structured lessons that introduce students to artificial intelligence, data-driven thinking, and emerging technologies.
The Academic Leader contributes to a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment, ensuring that students are supported, challenged, and fully engaged in their academic experience.
Teaching consists of up to five morning sessions per week, each lasting up to three hours.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
Plan and deliver engaging, varied, and well-structured lessons in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, in line with the course syllabus, combining theory with practical, hands-on learning.
Introduce students to key concepts such as machine learning, data analysis, and AI applications, using interactive tasks and collaborative projects.
Create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident to experiment, contribute ideas, and develop their understanding.
Support students in applying concepts through practical challenges, including analysing datasets, exploring patterns, and developing simple AI-driven solutions.
Encourage critical thinking by exploring the ethical and societal impact of AI, including discussions around privacy, bias, and fairness.
Develop students’ ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, through discussion, collaboration, and presentations.
Maintain appropriate standards of student behaviour, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment in line with guidance from senior staff.
Attend weekly meetings with the Course Director and Director of Studies to review student progress, provide feedback, and address any concerns.
Complete all required administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate registers, records of learning, and student reports.
Support end-of-course activities, including attending Final Presentations where possible.
Follow safeguarding procedures at all times and contribute to a safe, positive, and enriching environment for students and colleagues.
Ensure all quality control processes are completed professionally, including accurate record keeping and proper use of equipment and facilities.

Academic Leaders are expected to maintain high personal standards and demonstrate a friendly, positive, and approachable manner. They must remain professional and calm, handle sensitive situations with care and discretion, and adhere to confidentiality and data protection guidance. Strong organisational skills and a passion for education and innovation are essential.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL
Have experience teaching or working with young people in an academic or educational setting.
Have a strong background or interest in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
Be confident and engaging, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, interactive, and accessible way.
Be comfortable delivering hands-on, project-based learning and encouraging student participation.
Demonstrate strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
Hold a relevant academic or teaching qualification (desirable but not essential).
