Employment4students has been helping students to find jobs for a long time.

A long time….

A really looonnggg time.

We first started to help graduates and students find jobs way back in 2000. Do you want to see what we looked like when we were just a little baby?

Weren’t we cute?

Back then in the first April after the turn of the 21st century, people were buying Craig David & Westlife singles in big enough quantities to make them reach number one in the charts.

So, we have definitely been helping students and young people to find work for a long, long time!

Before The Student Jobs Blog…

Now, this Student Job blog you are currently enjoying (well, at least we hope you are enjoying it), is a relative newcomer to the e4s family.

And what that means is that we’ve produced many useful “Guides” and “How-To”s that were around before this new kid on the blog even existed.

Students and graduates have changed a lot since we started out, and so have the number and range of vacancies on offer in the jobs market – both here in the United Kingdom and overseas.

But, there are some things that don’t change in the world of student jobs. Some advice stands the test of time and is as relevant now as it was when we started to find jobs for students back in 2000.

Last year, before we started this Student Jobs blog, we poured the wisdom we had accumulated in our first dozen years into two complete guides to finding student jobs while at school, college or university.

Because we’d seen that the search for student jobs is different for different age groups, we split our knowledge base into separate guides to finding jobs when you are under 18 and finding jobs when you are over 18.

What’s Covered In Our Student Jobs Guides?

Both guides cover similar questions about how to find student jobs and make sure you get them. It’s the answers in the two guides that are slightly different, taking into consideration the various factors involved in getting a part time job or some work in the holidays depending on whether you are are at school, college or university.

As well as helping you find jobs (it’s what we’re good at) we also offer advice on writing CVs and cover letters, attending job interviews and what to do when you first turn up at your new job. We also touch on a few of the legal issues surrounding part time or full time work as a student.

What Should You Do With These Guides To Student Work?

First of all, download and absorb the version most relevant to you by using the download link images below.

Then share the document with other students you know who might be looking for work. Send them the link or post it to your Facebook page. Give it a tweet.

Ask your careers department to link to it or print it off and keep a copy handy for students who are looking for a job.

If we have any teachers or careers advisers reading the blog, then you can help too, by sharing the guides with your students or giving us your feedback.

Our Esteemed Critics

But, that’s enough from us for now. What have those in the know already said about our Student Jobs Guides?

Here are the thoughts of two teachers who were kind enough to give us some feedback.

“Great idea, really informative and some useful information for parents also!”

- Mrs J Jerome-Ruttley, Sir William Ramsay School, High Wycombe

“The student guide is great! Really comprehensive and a fantastic resource. I think all of my pupils would benefit from your advice!”

Mrs E Serventi, Shavington High School, Cheshire

More Feedback

I know we said at the outset that some student job advice is timeless – but the truth is that nothing will stand still forever in the world of work.

We want to ensure that any future versions of our student job guides are relevant to the current job climate, so we’ll leave the comments section below open so you can constantly update us with feedback on our latest versions.
