Home Bargains Creating 100 New Full Or Part Time Jobs In Colchester

Discount retailer Home Bargains is opening a new Essex store which will create an estimated 100 new full or part time jobs in Colchester.

The retail chain already has one store in the city (Turner Rise Retail Park) but the new addition will be even bigger, creating dozens of vacancies in the Essex city.

Bosses say that they will recruit for all of the vacancies from the local jobs market for the new store which will open at a former B&Q store on the Lightship Way development in the Hythe area of Colchester.

Giving some extra details about the new venture, a spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “This will be our second and biggest store in Colchester to date, expected to open in August 2024.The store will be over 34,000 square feet and, as well as our usual amazing Top Brands at Bottom Prices, across both food and non-food ranges, we will also have an extensive offering of fresh, chilled and frozen products.”

“We are delighted to announce that this store will include a bakery, instore café and a large garden centre. We will be looking to recruit about 100 new team members, from the local community, with roles being advertised on our careers website when they are available.”

Local councillor and former Mayor of Colchester, Tim Young, welcomed the news, saying: “We, as the ward councillors, give a cautious welcome to Home Bargains and hope they will recruit staff locally, as the need for jobs in the area is great. It will be good to have the unit open again and I hope they are prepared to invest in the area and manage some of the traffic issues that will arise.”

You can find out more about vacancies at the retailer by visiting the Home Bargains careers site.
