Atlantic Park Development To Create Over 1,000 Liverpool Jobs & Apprenticeships
More than 1,000 new jobs and apprenticeships are being created in Liverpool as part of the development of Atlantic Park, a huge 52-acre logistics and manufacturing hub.
The project is expected to inject over £62 million a year into the city region’s economy once complete.
The development, led by Royal London Asset Management, will support around 1,125 jobs, with an additional 685 local roles generated in the wider area.
Apprenticeships, career talks, work experience placements and training opportunities will also be on offer thanks to partnerships with local colleges and the careers guidance service ‘Sefton at Work’.
Commenting on the plans, Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said: “What you’re seeing now is the resurgence of Liverpool and our city region as somewhere that investors and private sector money wants to invest in.”
“I look at some of the economic indicators and all of the major levers that we’re pulling are having a direct impact on the improvements we’re seeing. We’re seeing more jobs, which is great, but we’re also seeing lots more apprenticeships.”
“We’re seeing more growth sector businesses choosing Liverpool. We’re seeing the economic benefits of that, in regards to people staying here, and the visitor economy is growing. The whole system needs to function together. And that’s what we’ve started to see,” added the Mayor.
Councillor Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, economy & skills, also commented, saying: “Sefton Council has been working with Royal London and the Liverpool City Region to progress this project so that we can help our local residents access jobs.
“We can contribute to the economy and we can actually generate more business rates so that we can offer the people of Sefton more money to spend on services. So everyone’s a winner here, really.”
“It’s a really good story. It is about having hope. It’s about having a vision and it’s also about having agency, recognising the choices you have and the change you can make,” said the councillor.
Atlantic Park is being built on the site of the former Rolls Royce factory in Bootle, within the Port of Liverpool Freeport zone. The first phase of construction created 19 apprenticeships and saw over a quarter of vacancies filled by Liverpool City Region residents.
The second phase of the project is now underway and is due for completion in summer 2026, bringing even more opportunities for students in the area and other local residents.
