Ideas for Summer Jobs

Do you know what you want to do in the summer? We advertise loads of vacancies on the site, ranging from hospitality jobs to summer camps to working abroad. We also have a number of articles giving more info on the types of jobs you can apply for – but here are a few more ideas to get you thinking:

a) Work at a Summer Camp
Jobs include counsellor roles, activity leaders and sports instructors. Summer camps can be in the UK or abroad – especially in Europe or the USA.

b) Work at Resorts and Holiday Destinations
Jobs range from entertainment and bar staff to customer service and holiday rep positions.

c) Work at Campsites
Hundreds of campsites across the UK and Europe need staff over the summer. Roles include cleaning, entertainment, customer service, bar work and kitchen assistance.

d) Tutoring
Not just for summer – but during the holidays, many children need tutoring. There are plenty of companies looking for student tutors to join their books.

e) Children’s Entertainers
It might sound a bit unusual, but many companies offer flexible, well-paid work for children’s entertainers over the summer holidays.

f) Marquee Companies
Summer is peak season. These companies need staff to help put up marquees – it’s hard work, but the pay is good and you’re usually working with a fun team.

g) Olympics 2012
OK, so this is just for next year, but it’s worth planning ahead! The Olympics will create tens of thousands of jobs – from G4S recruiting security staff to hospitality and customer service roles.

h) Theme Parks
Summer is their busiest season. THORPE PARK in Surrey recruits thousands of seasonal staff. Other big employers include Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventures. Find out more about theme park jobs here.

These are just some ideas – let us know if you have any others, and be sure to check out our summer jobs page for more information and inspiration on how to make the most of your summer break.
