Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Safety, Health and Environment Technician to work within the Facilities department whilst gaining a qualification.



You will be responsible for supporting the Training and Safety Manager in ensuring that high standards of quality and compliance are met.  This job role will offer an interesting and diverse range of duties depending of the needs of the business and of external agencies on a week to week basis. However, key duties will include:




  • Record keeping and compiling into reports as and when required

  • Answering the telephone and relaying accurate messages

  • Clerical duties in relation to health and safety management such as helping to prepare and present instructional materials and safety manuals

  • Monitoring weekly safety management systems

  • Reviewing and developing risk assessments

  • Reviewing and developing fire safety management systems

  • Carrying out periodic safety checks and audits in our two distribution centres and at Head Office

  • Inspecting facilities, work areas and equipment

  • Monitoring work practices and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements

Skills Required :

To be suitable for this role you should possess the following key skills/abilities:




  • An eye for detail and the ability to work accurately

  • Time management skills; an ability to work to deadlines to ensure work is carried out in a timely manner

  • A willingness to learn all relevant processes with the aim of becoming a specialist within the department

  • Strong IT skills with experience using Microsoft Word and Excel

  • A flexible approach

  • Teamwork skills; the ability to work well with others

  • A passion for delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external customers



Future Prospects :

There are plans for the right individual to form an integral part of the business after completion of this apprenticeship.  Long term career progression into a Health and Safety Management role is a real possibility.
