Job Description
BHR Group provides engineering consultancy services to a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, defence, oil and gas, nuclear, water, speciality chemicals, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical.
The apprentice will learn about construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of fluid engineering models and test rigs used to validate BHR customer designs, optimise customer processes, and solve customer operational problems.
Fluid engineering rigs range from civil engineering scale models of water treatment works, dam spillways, and pump sumps to high pressure jet cutting equipment and chemical reactors.
The apprentice will learn, build, commission, operate, and maintain rigs, use a wide range of experimental measurement techniques, record and analyse test data based on both instrumentation and visual observation.
The individual should take pride in their work and a 'can do' attitude is a must.
The key skills that will be acquired during the apprenticeship are:
- Basic fluid engineering and hydraulics
- Health and safety in an engineering environment
- Specification and operation of motors, pumps, compressors
- Construction and operation of pipeline systems and vessels
- Working with hand tools
- Fitting and assembly skills
- Measurement and recording of test data using a variety of techniques
- Photography and video recording skills
- Proficiency in the use of e-mail and Microsoft Word and Excel
Things to consider:
The apprentice will be part of the engineering team, but will get the opportunity to gain experience in each of the chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, and workshops teams at BHR Group. The employer offers benefits and flexible working.
This position is based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire with limited public transport routes. Please ensure you are able to travel to the employer location.

Future Prospects :
The employer is looking to offer a permanent position to the right candidate on completion of the apprenticeship programme.
There is an opportunity to progress onto HNC/HND qualifications, depending on the performance of the apprentice they could continue onto degree level.
