Job Description
The Technician programme will be taught over three years at the Volkswagen Group apprenticeship programme centre in Milton Keynes.
When cars, vans, motorcycles and larger vehicles are damaged in accidents, they are taken to a body repair workshop. Some repairers will complete the process from start to finish and others will have specialised roles and work on one part of the repair process.
Body repair technicians, also known as panel beaters or panel technicians, specialise in repairing or replacing damaged panels. Duties may include:
- Assessing the level of damage and making a decision whether to repair or replace panels
- Removing damaged panels
- Repairing damaged chassis and panels
- Keeping logs of work carried out and informing the customer of any additional works required
You will be guided three years for an Advanced Apprenticeship, by your own occupationally trained and qualified Vocational Coach.
Personal Qualities :
You must have a genuine interest working in the automotive sector and be committed to the three year apprenticeship programme. You must be willing to learn in a practical environment.
Skills Required :
Ideally some commercial work experience in a garage, but not essential.
