Job Description

Responsibilities and duties 




  • 1st line technical support for all users of computing and IT systems within the Company - This would involve answering support queries via phone, email and face to face 

  • Learning and adhering to support procedures for call taking, fault logging, investigation and closure  

  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries including ownership, feedback, allocation and follow up 

  • To take ownership of user problems and be proactive and understanding when dealing with user's issues 

  • Ultimately provide help and advice to end users and be able to offer appropriate technical guidance and advice 

  • Investigation and diagnosis of IT faults and problems including, but not limited to, hardware and software problems on client PC, server and network equipment 

  • Installation and configuration of desktop PC’s and laptops running MS Windows 10 

  • Installation and configuration of data centre servers running various operating systems such as Linux and MS Windows 

  • Configuration and maintenance of appropriate IT services run throughout the business IT infrastructure such as DNS, DHCP, Email, Web services, network monitoring, databases, IP telephony, IP addressing, IP CCTV etc. 

  • Ability to adopt an understanding of and support new and emerging technologies which may become part of the service offering during the apprenticeship period 

  • Any other reasonable task as assigned by the IT manager or member of the senior management team 


Personal Qualities :

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately, work as a team and individually

  • Own transport

  • High standard of personal hygiene and appearance

  • To be a team player and form part of an on-call rota averaging 1 in 4 weeks on call



Skills Required :

  • Have a general understanding of computer hardware and software

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Appetite to learn quickly
