Job Description

Duties include:




  • The role comes with fantastic learning exposure and the possibility to develop further within a highly reputable business.

  • Design, estimating, management and administration of mechanical heating, ventilation and air conditioning contracts (initially as an assistant to experienced engineers).This will include computer aided design and drawing tasks.

  • You will be working closely with a group of engineers on various projects. Each project is different, with its own problems and solutions, offering engineers the ultimate challenge to create the right solution for that building.

  • Full Training will be given. Qualifications will be gained from day release.

  • The position is generally office based within the hours detailed above but there may be occasion when the apprentice would visit site and work slightly longer hours (subject to agreement) if the need arose.

  • As above most of the tasks involved will be carried out in the office on a computer using drawing and design software.

  • The candidate will need the ability and concentration levels to be able to work long hours in an office on a computer.

  • The training would take place in South & City college Birmingham so independent travel to Birmingham once a week will be required. Travel expenses will be paid.

  • Independent travel to and from their place of work will be required, and punctuality is important. This can be via train or own transport.

Skills Required :

  • Good IT skills with a sound knowledge of word and excel.

  • Interest in DT or Computer Aided Design would be of an advantage but not essential.

  • Managing time on various tasks



Future Prospects :

Once qualified to HNC Level (following on from this BTEC Level 3), the successful applicant could progress to be an in-house Design Engineer or a Contracts Engineer, managing a number of sites and the associated labour on site including the procurement of the necessary equipment required to carry out the project. Part of both the Design Engineer and Contracts Engineer';s roles would be estimating using our Hevacomp Design Package and/or SEC Estimating Package (full training on these will be given).
