Job Description

Who are EY?

EY is one of the biggest and most exciting professional services firms in the world. But what does “professional services” actually mean, and what do we really do?

Our people use their business skills to advise our clients on how they can make better decisions on how their businesses are run. We work with small business owners, huge multinational organisations, exciting start-ups – even governments.

Apprenticeship Details:

Our Transaction teams help our clients to improve growth, competitiveness and profitability. They do this in many different ways, for example by helping them to raise new finance, support in the merging of their company with another to improve performance, or helping those in distress to restructure. Our projects often involve managing multiple stakeholders and high degrees of complexity and uncertainty. Decision making in this environment requires strong client management and communication skills, rigorous analytical techniques and excellent data handling skills.

The role of data analytics in Transactions has become increasingly important, especially in the power to be found within predictive/prescriptive data science. In Transactions, we help to assess the impact of technology on a company’s business model, helping clients to answer questions such as, how will autonomous vehicles impact our supply chain? In a world of disruption, helping our clients to understand the impact of digital change on their business strategy and the commercial benefit to investing in technology will help them to create a long-term future proofed model.

As an apprentice on the degree apprenticeship in digital innovation, you’ll be instrumental in helping to drive new ideas from day one, whilst earning a starting salary of up to £21,500.

What support and professional qualifications will you receive?

You can expect first class training and support throughout your role as a digital apprentice. You will spend 20% of your time over 4 years studying towards a BSc degree. You will study with other Apprentices at QA and receive a degree accredited from Roehampton University in Digital and Technology Solutions. You will build on these skills in our teams with our clients in between your block release sessions.

As well as your technical training, you'll also develop essential know-how through a range of activities. Over the 4 years you can expect to experience web-based learning, shadowing senior colleagues and team members, and training courses with our in-house experts. You'll be assigned a career counsellor on day one who'll work closely with you to identify your strengths and help you grow in your career.

A role in EY Transactions, combined with achieving a degree, should not be underestimated in terms of the experiences it opens up. Having gained a grounding in the IT aspects of finance industry and exposure to our large client base, you’ll have a wealth of practical experience to compound your theoretical knowledge. And this will open opportunities both inside and outside EY.

What do we look for?

You don’t need to have any prior technical experience or qualifications - we're looking for people who are passionate about technology and have a strong desire to learn. You will be able to work independently, use your own initiative and be ready to embrace responsibilities which could see you working with a range of internal and external people - meaning you are confident at communicating in a variety of different situations. And if you’re not then we will give you all of the guidance and support you need.

To be eligible for the EY Degree Apprenticeship in Digital Innovation you should be studying towards, or have attained, three A-levels/five Scottish Highers, or equivalent.
