Job Description

RB have an opportunity for 3 candidates to join the team at the Nottingham site on a 4 year multi-skilled (Mechanical, Electrical and Controls) apprenticeship programme offering academic/theory input (provided by New College Nottingham on a block release basis) underpinned by work placements and the ability to put into practice and build on the theory in the workplace in the first year.



Candidates will then focus on giving depth and breadth of experience via a managed programme of work placements in the healthcare and household factories with day release for continued academic/theory input.



Day to day tasks will include:

•    Working safely in an engineering environment

•    Carrying out engineering activities

•    Using and communicating technical information

•    Producing components using hand fitting techniques

•    Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment

•    Maintaining electrical equipment and systems

Progression through the programme will be supported by an Apprentice/Company Mentor relationship.



The Company Mentor (an experienced Engineer) will be assigned at the start of the apprenticeship programme and stay with the apprentice throughout the entire programme.  Regular reviews will take place to ensure progress is on track, to resolve any issues and for broader career guidance.



Performance and successful academic achievements over the 4-year programme will be rewarded in terms of salary progression.



This roles will include possible shift work from YR2 onwards.



A permanent role may be offered at the end of and successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.

Skills Required :

• Applicants will need to be flexible in the approach to a multi-skilled mechanical, electrical and controls role. 

• Applicants will need to demonstrate a real interest in and passion for mechanical, electrical and controls engineering through either prior learning or personal activities.



Future Prospects :

Our apprenticeship programme is designed to enable us to recruit to a career path and to a specific end role.  Details of career paths and options will be shared with each apprentice by the company mentor.  



Potential salary progression could be: 



YR1 £12-£13,000 PA

YR2 £14-£15,500 PA

YR3 £17-£18,500 PA



For applicants with the right attitude the opportunities are real. Potential opportunities for an additional year of training could include progression to HNC and HND level through apprenticeships. Further training opportunities outside the apprenticeships could include degree level courses:



YR4 £20-£28,000 PA
