Job Description

Trainee/Apprentice Fabricator Welder (Permanent role)

Our client is very well established, based in Old Stratford, but will be moving to new purpose built site in Stowe near Buckingham within 18 months.

They are looking to train someone to become a fully qualified Welder/Fabricator, and would consider someone who may be qualified and has a few years experience, or someone that has a real interest, but has no formal qualifications in this skill set.

Salary would be dependent on experience.

Hours: 45 hours per week (8am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday)

Main Purpose:

Fabrication involves laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding metals to create the desired shape or object. This is highly detailed work and requires the Welder Fabricator to be knowledgeable of many techniques and tools.

The Welder Fabricator must constantly inspect and test welds and equipment. Welds are checked for durability as well as meeting specified standards, and equipment must be examined to determine if repairs or new equipment is needed.

Reporting to: Stores and Service Manager Charge hand.

Key Job Tasks:

Assists in the assembly and manufacture of various construction/agricultural equipment.

Assists with the final assembly of plant and machine including basic mechanical assembly.

Assists with the creation of specialist equipment from design stage to manufacture.

Keeps plant equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

Updates job knowledge by participating in Training opportunities; reading technical publications.

You will be using various hand and power tools in your job, as well welding equipment and lifting gear.

You will be required to fit parts to plant, reading from engineering drawings, performing general workshop duties required, such as drilling and cutting.

Works within the requirements of the companys Health and Safety policy and procedures.

All applicants must have basic mechanical knowledge, but further training will be given to the right candidate.

You will be provided with all PPE including overalls, footwear etc.
