Job Description

NWBIB Ltd are an insurance broker based in Cambridge. The business is looking to recruit an insurance practitioner apprentice to join the team and enter the insurance sector. This role is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to enter the insurance sector and progress within the industry.



The business is looking to recruit an insurance practitioner apprentice to join the business and learn all aspects of insurance.



Duties will include:




  • Checking new policy documentation for accuracy and forwarding to clients or liaising with Insurers Negotiating and inviting renewal of allocated client’s policies.

  • Ensuring schedule reflect the current risk on cover at all times including accuracy of sums insured, perils, excesses, extensions, and exclusions.

  • Provide administration support for Account Executive if requested in obtaining new business quotations and arranging cover.

  • Dealing with mid-term adjustments for clients.

  • Dealing with existing client “additional business” enquiries.

  • Dealing with clients’ telephone, post or email queries on a daily basis.

  • Liaising with Account Executives, Broking Technicians and Directors over any technical queries.

  • Providing assistance to colleague’s workloads/client queries in line with Absence/holiday protocols.

  • Maintaining effective diary system and chasing outstanding diary entries on a daily basis.

  • Ensuring continuous cover is maintained for clients (cover notes) Liaising with Claims Dept. over claims queries /reports.

  • Creating all invoices for New Business (where necessary / required), Mid Term Adjustments etc.

  • Collating meeting notes/documents, documenting meeting & action required

  • If requested, obtaining claims experience, renewal information, broking risk and presenting terms to Account Executive in a format for Client use.

  • Identifying any training needs arising from day to day work & responsibility to maintain own Continuous Professional Development (CPD) & record ensuring competencies are up to date.

  • Ensure all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with FCA guidelines or current regulatory body.


Personal Qualities :

  • Ability to work as part of a team and take individual responsibility is essential.

  • Good time keeping and professional demeanour and presentation is also essential.

  • Attention to detail is also essential.



Skills Required :

  • Computer literate.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Good telephone manner.



Future Prospects :

Permanent position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the Apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a full time position following their Apprenticeship.
