Job Description

 We have vacancies within our Bradford Enablement Support Team which provides specialist enablement services to vulnerable people with assessed needs in the District. 



You will provide care to service users in a community setting. You will enable service users to live independently as possible by maximising their independence and promote the care & support in accordance with Council policy & Care QualityCommission requirements.



Your main duties will be




  1. To assist service users to maintain contact with family, friends and community

  2. Domestic duties including cooking, laundry, shopping and cleaning as necessary

  3. To create a supportive homely atmosphere where service users can achieve maximum independence

  4. To be part of a caring team liaising with services as necessary.

  5. Other approved tasks necessary to maintain the service user in community.

  6. To prompt, assist and administer medication

  7. To work in residential services as required

  8. To communicate with service users who may have some degree of communication difficulties

  9. To have the ability to communicate with family members, friends, and professionals from various relevant organisations.

  10. Able to drive and take responsibility for lease vehicles including vehicle checks

  • Safeguarding and Promoting the welfare of Adults.This requires understanding what harm or abuse is.  Recognising it and responding to it proportionately.

  • Reflecting and making informed judgements and ability to alert when necessary

  • Able to communicate and support individuals and carers to be involved as much as possible in their own care and decision making

  • Be able to work in ways that support equality and inclusion, to reduce the likelihood of discrimination

  • Partnership Working – working with others within the service and external partners to put adults and carers at the heart of decision making.

  • Communicating well, sharing appropriate, succinct, objective information and analysis to aid joint decision making

  • Being proactive, persistent and prepared to challenge and be challenged

  • Knowing your responsibilities and others roles and joint procedures

  • Gather and Share information appropriately to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Service Users

  • Writing case notes clearly and ethically



Skills Required :

Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 in relation to Disability Provisions.




  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required by the needs of the service.




  • Travelling outdoors from service user to service user in all weather conditions.




  • Working in the homes of service users which will vary considerably in terms of physical structure, cleanliness, warmth and material standards.




  • Working with equipment provided by the service user which may be outdated.

  • Access to a fleet of vehicles to deliver the BEST service but at times would need to use public transport.
