Job Description

Duties will include:




  • Calculation of payroll using Payroll Manager software, assisting the bookkeeping department and training in basic accounts preparation. 

  • You will gain exposure to various responsibilities such as accounts preparation and VAT returns

  • Accounts preparation for a variety of clients but mainly property companies

  • Bank Reconciliations

  • VAT, Debtor, Creditor and PAYE Control Accounts

  • Use of Viztopia Accounts Production Software

  • Extensive use of Microsoft Excel worksheets

  • Regular contact with clients by telephone and in person

  • Scanning and using electronic filing system

  • Introduction to Accounts preparation of Limited Companies

  • Preparation of simple Corporation Tax Computations

  • Input from and Reconciliation of various systems to the financial information system.

  • Preparation of information and reports for internal use and for external bodies



Working as part of a flexible team in Finance the post holder will undertake the following duties:




  • Cashier function - Banking cheques and cash and recording appropriate documents

  • Purchase Ledger process - Input supplier invoices, check invoices to supplier statements, write out cheques or make online banking payments, liaise with suppliers by e-mail or telephone

  • Sales Ledger process - Prepare invoices to individual customer accounts, ensure that statements are issued and debts chased

  • General Ledger process - Process wages Journals

  • Petty Cash process - Input petty cash transactions to general ledger



This position will include various roles but responsibility will be added gradually as and when we feel that the individual can cope with additional pressure or responsibility.



General finance office duties:




  • Work with the accounting assistants to ensure workload covered and shared

  • Filing and archiving of invoices, vouchers and other documents

  • Operate as part of the Finance team and provide cover as necessary for other staff

  • Answer queries and learn how to extract information from accounting records

  • Attend meetings if appropriate to training

  • Filing, scanning, photocopying and archiving

  • Updating spreadsheets and standard letters as directed

  • Taking telephone messages and using e-mail

  • Assisting accountants with administration duties for major projects

  • Ensure that good practice, customer care and health and safety are fully blended into day-to-day activities

  • Collating and distributing information or material
