Job Description

This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English and Maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.



Traineeships help unlock your great potential and give you the work preparation training, Maths and English and work experience needed to get an Apprenticeship or other job.

1. Are you currently NOT in a job? Do you have little or no Work Experience?

2. Are you aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 3 ( A levels)

3. Are you motivated and think you could be ready for employment or an apprenticeship within 6 months?



Look no further than a Traineeship Position



This Traineeship opportunity is a unpaid Work Experience placement as part of an entry to work course. An incentive of £20.00 per week is available based on 24 hour a week attendance (not eligible if claiming benefits) and also we reimburse travel costs of up to £15 per week for those who require public transport to get there, evidence would needed to be sent to us to claim this back.

This will ultimately prepare you with the essential skills for paid employment opportunities within the Retail/Warehouse Industry.

British Heart Foundation would like to help young people aged 16 up to 24 into work by offering quality Traineeship work experience opportunities in Retail/Warehouse.



This position offers valuable work experience opportunities which will help you to improve your skills and knowledge within a Retail/Warehouse environment.



Joining our busy store team within our Furniture and Electrical stores you’ll help out in our warehouse, ensuring the smooth running of our stores by making sure that goods are moved on and off the sales floor efficiently and safely.



This involves day to day duties:




  • Collections and deliveries are prepared correctly

  • All stock is recorded accurately

  • Helping load and unload furniture deliveries

  • Assisting in putting together flat pack furniture



You’ll also work with the shop manager and other staff to represent the BHF in a professional manner, reflecting our core values and beliefs and generally ensuring a great customer experience.



Over the work experience period you will work up to 24 hours a week over 7 days a week. Working hours will vary and may include some weekend work.



This will give you valuable knowledge which will prove essential when applying for a job.

  • To be fit and healthy due to the manual handling aspect of the role

Future Prospects : After successful completion of the Traineeship course, you will receive a certificate of completion and reference as a minimum, to support future job applications. There may be opportunities for interview and progression into an Apprenticeship or Employment with training, or Further Education. If paid positions are available within BHF you will have the opportunity to apply for these positions.
