Job Description

Main purpose of the role - full training provided:



The Early Years Apprentice is required to interact and actively encourage the development of all the children within the setting.



You will be a team player whilst maintaining the ability to initiate and self manager your own tasks. You will be required, at all times, to maintain the highest possible standards, in order to provide the best possible and environment for the children, by ensuring full compliance will the setting’s policies and procedures.



You will be passionate about maintaining the ethos of the Nursery and always be willing to go the “extra mile” to improve and develop the Nursery, it’s children, parents and staff.



Main responsibilities:



Children:




  • Undertake appropriate training to gain an understanding of the EYFS through appropriate interaction and engagement with the children.

  • To build and foster relationships with children's parents/carers.

  • Ensure you are at all times fully up to date with and implementing the Safeguarding Policy & Procedure in line with Ofsted and OSCB – undertake training as and when required.

  • Be responsible for reporting any concerns regarding any child in your care to the Room Leader/Deputy Manager or Manager.

  • Carry out a full range of activities including craft, singing, circle times, outside play and cooking.

  • Set up and prepare activities as per planning sheet/children’s interest.

  • Set up displays in line with training, as and when required.

  • Prepare beds and aid the children to sleep as and when required.

  • Be involved in the preparations for morning snack and encouraging appropriate food hygiene.

  • Be responsible for liaising with parents/carers at the start of the day. Ensuring that parents/carers and children are fully greeted into the setting and any information passed to you by the parents is written down and the Team Leader is made aware.

  • Be responsible for liaising with parents/carers at the end of the day, ensuring they are fully greeted and that clear information is provided to the parents/carers on their child’s day. Answer any questions the parents have to the best of your ability but, if unsure, check with the Room Leader.



Setting and Health & Safety:




  • Carry out daily risk assessment checks of the garden and setting as required, recording on the appropriate record forms.

  • At all times be aware of risks in the setting and resolve when possible e.g. dispose of broken toys or report immediately to Room Leader/Deputy Manager/Nursery Manager and written on Health & Safety form.

  • Be responsible for tidying and cleaning after activities, involving the children where possible e.g. washing of paint pots etc.

  • Follow Health & Safety and Hygiene Policies and Procedures at all times and be responsible for maintaining knowledge of these policies and requesting additional training as required.

  • Be responsible for the daily close down and daily cleaning of the setting by following instructions to the full given by the Room Leader/Deputy Manager or Nursery Manager.

  • Be a qualified Paediatric First Aider, action as necessary as per training and following accident reporting procedure.

  • Report any incidents in the setting by following the incident reporting procedure.
