Our vehicles are packed with the latest technology. That's largely down to the Engineering Technicians who develop, create and quality check our products and systems. Whilst training onsite, you will rotate around the business with placements in all areas of automotive manufacturing including: R&D, Process Planning, Quality Control and Production Validation. 



Training includes the study of state-of-the–art engineering and production techniques which are constantly developing in line with new technologies. You will need to possess the physical dexterity to carry out precise work with small components and the mental ability to handle complex data calculations of all types, rapidly and with accuracy. In addition to your technical skills, the ability to work in a team and communicate effectively to and with others is essential. 



You will need to be enthusiastic and well-disciplined as our apprenticeship programme is heavily focused on attitude and behaviour. In addition, you need to exhibit initiative, be reliable and conscientious. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to think logically and to work both independently and as part of a team. 



Key Accountabilities: 



Graduate engineering technicians will complete a broad spectrum of placements throughout the business in the UK whilst also having the possibility for placements abroad.



Placements cover many aspects of the business such as: 




  • Complete vehicle analysis. 

  • Supplier liaison/problem solving. 

  • Vehicle validation. 

  • Prototype vehicle testing. 

  • Manufacturing process and facility planning (Both electrical and mechanical). 

  • Software integration (Both vehicle and computer systems). 

  • Metrology - computer aided measurement and analysis (Including complete vehicle scanning). 

  • Supply and vehicle build planning (Logistics). 

  • Supporting the UK MINI Dealer network. 

  • Vehicle Launch planning/control. 



The placements give you the chance to experience the business as a whole whilst carrying out business relevant projects alongside your study. You will have the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of working for a world-class global automotive manufacturer, networking with people of different nationalities and have the opportunity to put theory directly into practice. 



As well as developing your specialist technical knowledge you will be expected to successfully complete an honours degree in engineering during years 2 – 4 of your apprenticeship which is fully funded by the company.
