Job Description

Bold Heath Equestrian a British Horse Society Approved Riding, Livery and Training Centre to stage 4 level are looking to recruit an Equine Apprentice, to assist in the care and maintenance of the equine stock and yard.  No prior experience is required; however a keen interest in horses and a ‘can-do’ attitude are vital to the role. Chance to compete in all disciplines and travel to competitions, own horse welcome.



The applicants will be expected to be able to work as part of a small team and be physically fit to undertake all aspects of work in all weather conditions.



This role will be based between Warrington, St Helens & Widnes.



As part of your apprenticeship you will be required to undertake vocational training with an Askham Bryan College assessor.



Roles and responsibilities will include:




  • As we are a British Horse Society Training and Examination Centre there is training for these examinations British Horse Society Stages 1,2,& 3 plus Teaching Qualifications.

  • We are a competition Centre chance to work with Dressage & showing judges  also work with British Showjumping & British Eventing Course Designers.


Personal Qualities :

  • Willing to learn and work outdoors.

  • Must be enthusiastic.

  • Must work well in a small team.

  • The candidate must be dedicated to completing the apprenticeship qualifications.

  • A friendly approach is essential.

  • Must have good attention to detail.

  • Must be proactive in their approach to work.



Skills Required :

  • Comfortable dealing with the public.

  • Works well to deadlines.

  • No particular skills are required as training will be provided, however candidates will be required to work as part of a team, will need to have the ability to work independently without the need for close supervision, the ability to work to deadlines, with good time management, and be organised with good attention to detail.



Future Prospects : Would lead to Equine Assistant role.
