Job Description


  • Understanding of the college estate around service utilities

  • Cover and assist Head of Building and Facilities with day to day running of the college estate

  • The ability to assess and coordinate day to day maintenance and repairs across the college campus while working alongside the maintenance and caretaking teams

  • Support and manage ground maintenance needs

  • Project plan and co-ordination of room/building moves/decants

  • Support in the planning of routine maintenance & betterment projects

  • To provide management information on class/workshop/room utilisation

  • Supporting the department liaising with internal and external building service contractors

  • Manage and maintain college mini buses, including bookings for hire, organising MOT and servicing

  • Co-ordinate and manage any pest control needs

  • College car parking management

  • To implement and manage the fire evacuation process for the college

  • To assist as and when required as part of the Estates and IT team core hub for job allocations via the Estates Help Desk reporting system

  • Provide telephone and advice cover for the IT/Estates helpdesk

  • To undertake any such other, broadly analogous tasks as the Principal or their delegate may from time to time determine, or the demands of the College require.



There are no line management responsibilities associated with this post, but the post holder will work very closely with the following:




  • Director of IT and Estates

  • Head of Building and Facilities

  • Caretaking Team

  • Maintenance Team


Personal Qualities :

  • Have a flexible attitude and be able to respond to a varied workload

  • Have an understanding of Health and Safety regulations and how they would apply to this post

  • Have a knowledge of and commitment to the principles of equality and diversity

  • Be willing to undertake training including First Aid, Manual Handling, Health and Safety 



Skills Required :

  • Have relevant experience and knowledge in a building/facilities service

  • Experience of using CAD or similar design package

  • Be able to work as an effective member of a team.

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to liaise effectively both with College staff and with external contractors/service bodies at a range of levels

  • Good IT skills including use of Word, Excel, Outlook and the demonstrable competence in  utilising them for reporting purposes

  • Initiative and ability to prioritise ones own work and work to tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing a quality customer service.

  •
