Job Description

We are looking for an apprentice to join our friendly and busy secretarial team based at Sussex Police Headquarters in Lewes.  This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates who are interested in learning how to provide an efficient, effective and professional administrative and secretarial service.  We are seeking individuals who are reliable, trustworthy, proactive and highly motivated. You should be a good team player, but also have the ability to work under minimal supervision and to produce high quality work to tight deadlines.



A good level of IT skills particularly a reasonable typing speed and experience of using Microsoft Word and Outlook would be an advantage.

We will provide you with the necessary training, coaching and support to successfully develop in the role of secretarial apprentice. 



You will be trained to be responsible for the provision of a proactive, responsive and professional secretarial service to senior managers across the force



You will learn to provide quality, efficient and effective support including:




  • Diary and email management for 2-3 senior managers using Outlook

  • Servicing and minuting meetings

  • Organisation and booking of events, travel arrangements and accommodation

  • Managing competing priorities and planning and prioritising your work effectively.



This role will require a high degree of integrity and you will be required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Proactive, highly motivated, initiative, good team working, willingness to learn and adaptable to change



Skills Required :

Computer literate, good interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills



Future Prospects : It is anticipated that upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship, and assuming good performance, that a permanent position may be available.
