Job Description

The college reception is the first part of our school that any visitors will see, therefore this is an area which we strive to keep open, welcoming and tidy at all times.



As the initial point of contact for the College it is important that our receptionists are friendly, calm and efficient in all situations.



As receptionist your main duties will include:




  • To ensure that visitors, staff and students meet safeguarding expectations when signing in and out.

  • To follow specific fire drill instructions.

  • Manage mail, emails and messages.

  • Receive telephone calls and liaising with staff.

  • Sort and frank all out-going mail.

  • Carry out typing of letters as required.

  • Ensure that the reception area is kept tidy and organised at all times.

  • Update and maintain data in SIMs.

  • Run register reports and follow up with teachers who have not completed them.

  • Co-ordinate parents’ evening appointments.

  • Maintain records of mini bus bookings, make sure keys are available from reception when required.

  • Producing weekly LVC Staff Bulletin.

  • Issue request of absence forms.

  • Maintain and operate room booking system.

  • Maintain the locker system.

  • General admin as required by the line manager/Senior Leadership Team.


Personal Qualities :

  • The successful candidate will have an approachable, positive attitude.

  • They will be able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure and have a good attention to detail.



Skills Required :

  • A professional, personable approach.

  • A polite telephone manner.

  • An ability to problem solve.

  • A basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • A high standard of English.
