Job Description

We love the North. It’s a vibrant, thriving place where there’s more happening than ever before. To connect communities, people and cities, we will transform the TransPennine Express franchise. It will offer faster, easier journeys and a step change in rail services: an InterCity of the North. With over £500m of investment to deliver (including 44 new intercity trains), we’re all set to take the North further, expanding links and the economy. There’s just one thing missing – you.

We see our Apprentices as our talent of the future and once trained they’re incredibly valuable to the business. We offer a competitive salary and a supportive environment where you can learn from the very best, pick up some great qualifications such as an Accredited Apprenticeship and work towards achieving a Duke of Edinburgh Gold award, a truly ‘First Class’ Apprenticeship programme.  On completion of the scheme, you’ll have the perfect springboard to a successful career in Rail.

Daily duties will include;

  • Data entry and spreadsheet maintenance.

  • Responding to internal information requests.

  • Ad hoc tasks in support of your Finance training.

  • Supporting the wider Finance team’s duties and record keeping.

  • General duties including e-mail communications / answering incoming telephone calls.

You’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, Grades A to C, including maths and English.  You will also have 2 A Levels (or equivalent, or projected). A Maths  A-level is an advantage but not essential and be interested in pursuing a career in Accountancy.  You’ll have an enquiring mind and love nothing more than solving problems, with good communication skills and a professional attitude. We look for people who are happy to roll their sleeves up, work with the team and make our business even better. You’ll find yourself learning lots of new and interesting things but you’ll have the ability and mind set to deal with anything that comes your way.  You will also be dedicated to attaining a Professional Accountancy Qualification via the Association of Accounting Technicians

  • 1. Give us your best example of great team work you’ve been involved in?

You’ll then need to complete an online assessment and if successful there’ll be a telephone interview to follow. If you’ve got what we’re looking for then you’ll be invited to an assessment centre. It’s a thorough process but it’s important we get the best person for the job, someone who will make the most out of this fantastic opportunity.
