Job Description
If you enjoy using your practical ability, have good co-ordination skills and enjoy being part of a team then a carpenter or joiner could be the ideal role for you. You will need to be good at maths as you will be calculating angles and measurements. On a day to day basis you will mainly be working on windows and doors and many other timber related structures. This work will mainly occur in shops and houses. Duties will invovle:
- Preparation of materials and tools required for carrying out specific tasks.
- Preparing work area to protect client’s property and implementing safe work practices.
- Maintaining tools and equipment as well as health and safety.
- Working as a professional tradesperson using the correct PPE.
- Must be able to take instructions from seniors to complete carpentry tasks
Personal Qualities :
- Good listening skills
- Good verbal communication
- Able to follow instructions
- In good health as the role requires bending, climbing, working at height long periods of standing, and willingness to maintain and work to a good level of standard.
Skills Required :
- Basic awareness of the construction environment
- Good working attitude showing commitment to learn and willingness to work within a team.
- Good punctuality and attendance is important with the ability to communicate any non-attendance or other issues.
- The candidate must be willing to attend college one day a week and commit to the work expected from his/her college tutors.
Future Prospects : Should the candidate reach a suitable grade and subject to us having a suitable vacancy they may be offered work at the end of the apprenticeship.
