Job Description

The Admissions Assistant will work within a centralised admissions team which forms part of the Recruitment, International and Admissions Department. They will support the activities of the Admissions Officers. This will involve administrative work such as data entry, printing, filing, post etc. They will also handle enquiries, largely in the form of emails and phone calls, from applicants and enquirers. 




  • To enter information on applicants onto the Student Records Systems

  • To monitor Admissions email accounts and answer queries. 

  • To answer incoming telephone enquiries to the Admissions Office and refer to other staff if necessary

  • To ensure that the office filing systems are maintained

  • Communicate with applicants and their representatives regarding the application process and their application.

  • To assist with the arrangement of interviews, including attending interview days

  • To assist with processing electronic applications and liaising with academic staff

  • To provide administrative support to the Admissions Officers

  • To undertake such duties within the Admissions Office as may be reasonably required by the Head of Admissions


Personal Qualities :

  • To be able to communicate effectively and with credibility to a diverse audience.

  • To receive, understand and convey information in a clear and accurate manner, e.g. advising enquirers.

  • Written communication skills: to be able to write reports, letters, emails clearly and grammatically.

  • Comfortable working in a busy customer focused environment.



Skills Required :

  • The ability to pay attention to detail and work with a high degree of accuracy.

  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to organise own workload and prioritise between tasks.

  • All round IT skills –ability to use Microsoft packages competently (Word, Excel, databases, PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Administration skills to plan and organise your time effectively.

  • Be able to effectively produce reports and letters as and when required.

  • An understanding of the need for providing proactive and high level customer service.
