Job Description

Bucksmore Education is looking for Activity Leaders for its summer courses based in Cambridge. Bucksmore has been running high-quality, British Council-accredited residential summer schools since 1979 and has earned an outstanding reputation among its students and their families. In 2016, individual students and small groups from over 55 countries attended a Bucksmore summer course. Students attending our summer schools receive a combination of tuition and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. The activity programme comprises on-site daytime and evening activities alongside full and half day trips to places of historical and cultural interest.

Activity Leaders lead the students’ social programme. You should have a genuine enthusiasm to work with young people and be able to work independently, flexibly and as part of a team. The social programme consists of onsite activities (sports, drama, music, games, discos, etc.) and excursions to other parts of the UK. You will also be the first contact for groups when they arrive at the airport.

We would be keen to hear from applicants with an interest / background in business or engineering.

Qualifications

  • Skills, abilities and competencies

    Strong communication skills

    An outgoing and sociable character

Willingness and ability to work as part of a team

    Sound planning and organisation skills

    Good leadership skills

    Respect for race and diversity

The role involves a substantial amount of walking, taking public transport and climbing stairs when accompanying students on excursions.

These roles are non-residential so require staff to have their own accommodation in Cambridge or Oxford.

Jobs with Bucksmore are challenging yet rewarding; demanding but fun. We require our Activity Leaders to be enthusiastic, outgoing and consistently able to motivate and engage pupils.

  • If successful, you must have permission to work in the UK by the start of your employment
