Job Description

Description

On the Rolls-Royce Manufacturing Engineering Higher Apprenticeship, you get to study towards an engineering foundation degree and work alongside world-class engineers. All while making a real contribution to an advanced engineering business. It is a great way to earn, learn and grow in confidence as part of a supportive team. And it provides you with the perfect platform to go on to even bigger challenges.

The programme

To start, our three year programme will see you undertake foundation training, which will give you a broad appreciation of engineering principles. From here you will be ready to embark on a series of three month placements. These will give you practical knowledge in areas such as product introduction, capability acquisition and continuous improvement. You will learn how to manage projects and costs, and also how to evaluate engineering designs, solve engineering problems, and implement quality assurance methods.

What you will do

Our Manufacturing Engineers are amongst the best in their field. To develop some of the most advanced manufacturing processes in the world, they have to be. They work across aerospace, marine and nuclear technology, and you will join them in one of those businesses. Turning our designs into reality, you will learn from designers, customers, suppliers and operations specialists in every part of Rolls-Royce around the globe, so you will enjoy plenty of exposure as you gain the experience you need to become a vital part of our future. All while taking advantage of on and off the job training, a competitive salary and amazing opportunities to grow your career.

What you will get

• A competitive salary starting from £12,354 a year.
• A competitive pension, and 33 days' holiday per year (inclusive of Bank Holidays).
• Career support from day one
• Nationally recognised qualifications

Who we are

Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better. And it is all thanks to our people. Whether they work in engineering or finance, manufacturing or project management, our 50,000-strong team work together to deliver excellence in the air, on land and at sea-to customers in 150 nations around the world.

Qualifications

Our Higher Apprentices need to be passionate about manufacturing engineering. So you will be analytical, motivated and, most importantly, endlessly curious about how things are made. You will also have to be numerate and process focused - something you will have proven with an impressive set of exam results.

What you will need

We look for A-Levels at A* to B in Maths and either Physics, Chemistry or Engineering, plus GCSEs at A* to C, or grade 5 in Maths, English and a relevant science or technical subject (or equivalent).
