Job Description
The purpose of the role is to:
- Be trained to a certified level and develop skills and knowledge of a teaching assistant/play worker
- Offer general assistance to the team and project a positive and friendly image to parents/carers and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
- Receive, assist and direct parents in accessing the appropriate service in a courteous, efficient, and effective way
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the wrap around care including the support to staff and other members of the team
- Facilitate effective communication between parents/carers and members of the team
- To plan, observe and assess children’s development
- To keep up to date records on progression of children.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintaining security in accordance with academy processes and procedures
- Maintain communication on a need to know basis
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Maintain children’s learning journeys
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from parents/carers and team members
- Providing clerical assistance to staff as required from time to time for example photocopying and scanning
- Keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy
- Keeping the nursery environment both indoors and outdoors tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Showing an awareness of issues regarding confidentiality and to adhere to academy policy at all times
- Using academy security systems within the workplace according to guidelines
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
- Actively reporting of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
- Keeping base room clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness
- Support the equality, diversity and rights of parents/carers and colleagues
- Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development
- Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work
- Hold a current DBS or be willing to complete the DBS check process
