Job Description


  • Must be confident to participate in all activities, like story time, dancing and singing and role play with the children.

  • Provide an exceptionally high standard of care to all children within the setting.

  • Implement appropriate activities for the children’s age, stage and ability.

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness to your base room. Rooms must be attractively laid out so that children have lots of play opportunities.

  • Never do anything that may jeopardise the safety or welfare of the children within our care or the staff at the setting.

  • Play and talk to the children at their level. Encourage them to become independent, secure and confident.

  • Manage children’s behaviour appropriately, never shout at them or threaten them. Use the behaviour strategy.

  • Maintain an exceptionally high standard of hygiene within the setting, and completing appropriate checklists.

  • Assist in the personal hygiene needs of the children taking care to meet individual needs. To ensure that during nappy changing or toileting times levels of cleanliness are maintained.

  • Be friendly and approachable, welcoming to parents and children.

  • Work as a member of a team and be flexible to work within other age groups as appropriate.

  • Take direction from qualified staff and Room Supervisors.

  • Undertake any extra duties that may ensure the best operation of the company such as cleaning, sterilization and food preparation.

  • Maintain a smart, clean and presentable appearance.

  • Promote anti-discriminatory practice to all staff, students and volunteers

  • To ensure that settings related business is kept confidential. Failure to do so is in breach of your Contract of Employment.

  • Attend training as directed by the Operations Director or Childcare Coordinator.

  • Remember working with children has its ups and downs. It is fun and rewarding but can be hard work
