Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for you to join an established business and gain the skills to become a qualified Pharmacy assistant.



You will work in a local who offer a wide range of services such as stop smoking, weight management, become a dementia friend, reduce health risks of childhood obesity. Be involved in helping to provide clerical requirements for young people services such as emergency contraception, chlamydia kit distribution, enrolment for free condom distribution. Help people with substance dependence and provide advice and clean equipment.



You will develop both the skill and the knowledge to become proficient to




  1. Undertake Stock management by filling up daily, checking and putting the goods away as they come in and doing the returns. Merchandise and manage stock control.

  2. Ensure good stock rotation and regularly check expiry dates in the shop and dispensary

  3. Ensure the dispensary is regularly replenished with cartons and bottles etc.

  4. To collect prescriptions from the doctors surgery across the road

  5. Deliver medicines to  the elderly and housebound patients in the local area

  6. Keep the shop and dispensary  clean and tidy by regularly  cleaning and tidying the shelves, doing hovering and  basic cleaning daily

  7. To answer the phone and take down messages

  8. Opportunity to complete a 1 year correspondence course in Dispensing see later.

  9. To become a health champion and develop skills to provide services such stop smoking and weightloss.

  10. To assist in other duties as requested by the pharmacist

  11. Undertake any clerical paper work and data input for services and business.

  12. To treat customers with dignity and courtesy

  13. Ensure confidentiality at all times

  14. Comply with the requirements of the data protection act.

  15. To abide and remain within the laws and regulations governing pharmacy.

  16. To be a good team player and respect all members of staff.

Skills Required :

  • Good communication skills

  • Good customer services skills

  • Good spoken English - a 2nd language is useful

  • Good listening skills

  • Very numerate and with an eye for detail, good IT skills



Future Prospects : Working to become a health champion and dispensing assistant- then progress in pharmacy.
