Hotel Bell Tent are looking for resourceful, hardworking individuals who can help us create our unique events. Whether it’s creating a glamping village at a festival or an entire hospitality area at an internationally renowned sporting event, our years’ of success in the industry means we recognise the value of our staff, and our build and break crew members have gone on to crew management, project management and production management positions.
Our build and break crew members work to create Hotel Bell Tent’s temporary event accommodation by unloading lorries; setting up and dressing tents; maintaining tents during the event; and setting down and loading. This role involves very physical work, including carrying heavy items, as well as attention to detail and a good customer facing attitude.
Wages: Normal working hours are 8 hours a day with a one hour unpaid lunch break (plus pro rata overtime where necessary), and is £65 a day. All employees have their travel costs paid, and will receive three catered meals a day by our crew cooks OR £10 food budget!
Start date: From May 2017 - Please note this position that this is a zero hours contract, with projects assigned on an ad hoc basis, depending on availability.
Location: Onsite at events around the country, with training in South West London and surrounding area.
Reporting to: Reception Manager, Crew Manager and Project Manager
Dates: Project based, terminating around mid-September
Accommodation: Camping, usually in crew camping, with other Hotel Bell Tent staff. You must provide your own tent.
Responsibilities include –
- Prior to the event: Under guidance of the Crew Manager, assist with unloading and storing stock in preparation for the build; plot and erect tents; furnish and dress tents; make beds neatly; assist with quality control, where necessary
- During check-in days: Under guidance of the Reception Manager, provide a bell boy service and assist customers with their bags
- During event: Under guidance of the Reception Manager and in cooperation with Front of House staff, prioritise and complete daily maintenance tasks; maintain and organise stock storage areas
- Post event: Under guidance of the Crew manager, assist with the first stages of the breakdown, including stripping decorations and bedding; remove furnishings and dressings; set down and pack away tents; organise stock in preparation for loading; assist with loading of lorries.
Key skills required –
- Ability to take instruction, use initiative and communicate well with team mates
- Ability to carry out physical work, and carry heavy items (tents typically weigh approximately 35 kilograms, and can be more)
- Hardworking, and a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
- Good attention to detail, and a desire to complete a job to a high standard
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Desire to work and live outdoors
- Problem solving and initiative
- Polite, helpful and friendly approach to guests
