Job Description

Ultimate Activity Camps is a leading provider of holiday childcare in the UK. Our trusted holiday camps operate at venues across the country and offer outstanding activity provision to children and peace of mind to their parents.

The role of TEFL teacher is to deliverEnglish lessons to children in ability classes of up to 12 students on one of our residential or day camp locations across the UK, as part of our Varsity International Summer Schools programme. You will be required to assist in the preparation of these lessons although all resources will be provided. The main aim of the English programme is to achieve full integration between International and British children, who will also be attending camp.

Day Camp

Day camp teaching roles involve being part of the activity instructor team with our partner company Ultimate Activity Camps, who run programmes for British and international children aged 4 – 14. Teaching is most likely to take place from 9.00 – 12.30, after which your role will be to support international students in their activity groups. Experience with young learners (4+) is preferable for this role.

Residential

Teaching roles on our residential camps are similar in that of day camps, lessons will take place in the morning but with students aged 8 – 16. A higher level of pastoral care will be expected due to the nature to nature of residential courses. Part of the role involves supporting and delivering activity sessions. Residential positions include full board and accommodation provided for the length of your contract.

Hours: Day Camp: 8.30 – 17.30 Monday – Friday

Residential: shift patterns from Sunday – Saturday (at least one full day off a week)

Contract: Seasonal work available in Summer School Holidays

Qualifications

  • CELTA/TESOL qualified or PGCE (Primary, English or MFL) or equivalent. Experience in teaching English to foreign students, preferably of primary school age, (4-11)

    • Experience of teaching EFL to children of different nationalities, ability and age.
    • Experience of holiday summer schools or activity camps desirable
    • Flexible, team player, able to adapt to dynamic situations and challenges on camp.
  • If successful, you must have permission to work in the UK by the start of your employment
  • You must be able to speak English fluently
