Job Description

About AkzoNobel
AkzoNobel is a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals, with leading market positions and brands in countries around the world. We operate in a number of important market segments ranging from buildings and infrastructure to transport, industrial and consumer goods. We’re also the sector leader in sustainability and are number one in the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index. In practical terms, that means our sustainable solutions are in your lives, and those of your friends and family, every day. We’re the people that make it possible for you to do what you need to do.

Who we are

Where better to put your learning into practice and develop your functional expertise than as part of the team at AkzoNobel. Awarded Top Employer status we are more than just the leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals. We are a business recognised the world over for being first with ideas and driving improvement. For example we’re working on making flying more energy efficient by using the properties of shark skin as inspiration for a new coating we hope will improve airflow over the top of an aircraft’s wings.

At AkzoNobel, we believe we can only grow our business as fast as we grow our people. That’s why we’re committed to investing in your time with us. Join us and we’ll work with you to develop your talents so that your ideas can go far.

Placement Programme Details
These Industrial Placement opportunities within our Paints business are geared towards providing you with challenging experiences. You could be involved in lowering our carbon footprint, reducing the range of raw materials we use or identifying opportunities to leverage economies of scale. Whatever projects you are involved in you will be mentored by experienced Supply Chain professionals who will encourage you to put academic theory in practice. We expect to build your competences and business skills as well as develop your practical abilities while you are with us. With an emphasis on development it’s no wonder we’ve consistently been voted by graduates as a Guardian Top 300 Graduate Employer and our own graduate trainees have rated us a Job Crowd Top Companies For Graduates To Work For, we’ve been in the top employers list for 4 years too.

What we’re looking for
To be considered you must be a high achiever expecting to attain a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent* in either Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or Process & Electrical) or Science (Chemist, Biological or Physics). You must also have achieved a minimum 300 UCAS points or equivalent** as well as speak fluent English. A second European language would be beneficial but not essential.

It goes without saying that you’ll be a highly motivated undergraduate who is interested in a Supply Chain career and keen to contribute to the progress of engaging projects within our operation. What makes you different is you are the sort of graduate who not only has ideas but also has the energy and determination to make them happen; a graduate who wants to work in an international environment and find solutions to the big challenges facing the world.

So if you think you’ve got what it takes and want to develop your talents, we can’t wait to see you here at AkzoNobel – and help you take your ideas to the world. To apply please visit our website via the link.

As part of the application process you will need to be available for a telephone interview and to attend an Assessment Centre.

* Please visit the FAQ section of our website for equivalencies in your country.

** UCAS Points are a measurement of ‘A’Level performance, points gained at AS level qualifications should not be included. 300 points are equivalent to 3B’s at ‘A’Level.
