Job Description

The role of Activity Instructor (Lifeguard) is primarily to lifeguard at our camps during our structured swimming sessions. You will be lifeguarding poolside whilst our instructors lead a swimming activity for children aged 4 – 14. Between lifeguarding duties you will have the opportunity to be part of our Instructor team delivering outstanding, structured Sport, Art and Fun activities to groups of children.

With camps running in all school holidays we are continuously recruiting talented candidates to work for us in Easter, Summer and Half Term seasons!

You will be expected to deliver (with supporting resources) activities to children aged between 6 and 14 years, with the emphasis being on participation, structure, and development. You will also have a pastoral role, being the group leader and key contact for one of the groups of children on camp.

October half term dates are: Monday 24th October - Friday 28th October

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lifeguard for groups of children on our camps
• Prepare and deliver activities for children aged 6-14, focussing on participation, development, and enjoyment.
• Ensure all policies and procedures on camp are adhered to by yourself and the children in your care, including health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.
• Help to set up The Ultimate Activity Camp by attending a Camp Induction Day.
• Take a pastoral role as a group leader, welcoming new children into your group and liaising with the Camp Manager and/or parents as necessary.
• Supervision of children outside of activity times.
• Other ad-hoc duties (cleaning, equipment maintenance/ordering etc.)

Requirements:
• Qualified lifeguard (NaRS, NPLQ), with experience working with children. Other coaching/teaching experience desirable.
• Enthusiastic, energetic individual, passionate about working with, and developing children through play and activity
• Good organisation and communication skills.
• Flexible, team player, able to adapt to dynamic situations and challenges on camp.
• Someone looking for a challenging, different but hugely rewarding and fun job in the holidays, and looking to further their career in the childcare and coaching industry
• Experienced in coaching/teaching, able to tailor delivery and structure according to age and ability

Please note all of our camps are non-residential. All of our staff must be able to travel to/ from camp daily.

Qualifications

  • If successful, you must have permission to work in the UK by the start of your employment
  • You must be able to speak English fluently
