Job Description

The Port of Milford Haven is the UK's largest energy port and the biggest port in Wales.

A 24/7 operation, the Port offers a range of marine services as well as owning and operating Pembroke Port; Milford Marina and Fish Docks. Activities such as cargo handling, ferry operations, fish landing and cruise calls as well as a first class marina are spread across these two sites.

The Port, along with the cluster of energy-related businesses along the Waterway, is a key driver of economic activity in Pembrokeshire, attracting inward investment and supporting over 4,000 jobs in the area.

HR Team:-

1. HR Director
2. Payroll Team Leader
3. Payroll Assistant
4. 2 X HR Advisors

We currently employ approx. 170 employees over two locations (Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock) and deal with all aspects of HR – Policy development; Recruitment; absence management; performance management; trade union negotiations etc

The Student would be mainly based in our HQ at Milford Haven and expected to support the HR team as required and duties will include:

1. Assisting Team Members with recruitment, absence management, Policy Development; HR system development; workshop/training events

2. Project/Research Work – to align with business and their academic requirements

3. Fielding/ responding to enquiries in person and by phone

4. HR database work – data entry, data checking

5. General admin – filing, scanning, photocopying, letters etc.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for someone who has completed 2 years of study and looking for a year out in industry to support their final year. They should be studying towards a degree in Human Resource Management or Business Studies with a HR element.
  • If successful, you must have permission to work in the UK by the start of your employment
  • You must be able to speak English fluently
