Job Description

This is a great opportunity for surveying students or recent graduates to get some real on-site land surveying experience and work alongside practicing surveyors.

Our Company: MHTC Ltd is a specialist traffic and transport data collection company. We carry out transport and parking surveys of all different types across the country.

One of our current projects is to survey the parking regulations (eg the yellow and red lines and marked parking bays on the road) in the borough of Ealing. We are looking for three people to supplement our team. The work involves positioning, measuring and recording all the parking regulations in the borough. We will use mobile survey equipment and satellite positioning to record the regulations against a back drop of large scale mapping of the area.

There are more than 500km of road in the Borough, so there is a large amount to survey. Each person will work for approximately 40 hours per week over the period early May to mid-June. The timing of the work is reasonably flexible, however, it will need to be conducted during daylight hours and during weekends. You will generally work two days on and one day off.

Qualifications

  • Type of person: We are looking for undergraduates or graduates with relevant degrees (civil engineering, geomatics, geography, GIS). Some experience of land surveying, map production or Geographical Information Systems is required. We will use mobile survey equipment and satellite positioning to record the regulations against a back drop of large scale mapping of the area. You will also need to be able to work alone, be methodical, and committed to collecting accurate data. You will also need to be fit as the work will be conducted on foot.

Pay and Conditions:This is a temporary placement from early May for six weeks. The hourly rate of pay is at least £9.15 (London Living Wage) and will depend on experience. We will pay local travel expenses. We will pay staff on a monthly basis by BACS transfer.
