ROLE: Our client uses data analysis to influence company decisions at the highest levels, especially when making the decision to invest in a new store. The Site Research department is about understanding and anticipating customer requirements, analysing our business and how stores meet those needs and researching sites to develop new stores. Within Site Research the Analysis & Development team uses quantitative analytical techniques, creative problem solving and software development to support a range decisions throughout the business. RESPONSIBILITIES a) Developing models and tools that ensure our understanding of customers and stores are used to support the best investment decisions. Example: Site Research use gravity modelling to represent the UK food market and predict the effects of building new stores in different areas. b) Monitoring, and understanding the performance and impact of New stores / Extensions / Refits of Tesco and Competitors. Example: Measuring the impact of every competitor activity on their stores requires a methodology that can eliminate seasonal and regional trends to give real sales values. Analysts designed a methodology to meet this challenge and then automated it allowing every retail event in the UK to be evaluated and store budget |
