Job Description

This role is offered as a Community Arts Apprenticeship. It is therefore ideal for a young person interested in developing a career in the creative and cultural industries as the role will bring them contact with many types of arts and cultural organisations but mainly organisations centered around the development of carnival arts.



The role of the Community Arts Apprentice is to support the designing, planning and delivery of arts based workshops, events and training sessions as part of the programme of work and projects Carnival Village Trust offers.



To assist and support the CVT Director and CVT team in the management and marketing of

events, workshops. To ensure that all social media is updated and to assist with the

development of Carnival Village TV, an online platform dedicated to carnival arts. To work as directed to ensure events are well planned, safe and well attended.



To work 30 Hours per week. Working hours are flexible, subject to the need to deliver the

responsibilities set out in this job description.



- To support the organisation, planning and delivery of a range of arts events, festivals. To help document out team’s work in image, video and sound.

- To lead on the development of our social media and digital work, such as Facebook, pof casts, Twitter and out online presence such as the Carnival Village TV.

- To support the marketing and promotion of our offer.

- Researching opportunities for promotional activity for our work.

- Booking workshops and events and ordering resources/supplies.

- To Co-operate with the council in complying with relevant health and safety and Child Protection legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.

Creative work.



- To be able to creatively support development and delivery within the teams work.

- The apprentice should have an interest in arts and culture.

- To produce press releases and publicity for arts and events development as instructed by the Director.

- Helping to source content for newsletters and online marketing activities

- To be able to demonstrate creativity in providing flexible solutions to problems.



Decisions made



- Able to work under your own initiative when set a task by team members

- To implement the training offered to support the delivery of safe and effective events.

- You will make decisions that are in the best interest of CVT.

- You will refer issues that you are not confident at dealing with to other members of the team



Supervisory responsibilities



- To work to ensure that the correct procedures to keep people safe, are understood and adhered to by all people working on behalf of the team as directed by team members



Supervision received



- Weekly team meetings

- Monthly support & supervision

- Twice-­‐yearly personal performance development discussion

- College tutorial support



Complexity



- This apprenticeship requires the capacity to develop complex skills and knowledge of events often through first hand experience of event development and delivery at a community level

- Able to use appropriate communication methods to share information with different groups and individuals

- Support the development of activities that achieve outcomes set by funders and team.

- Within the duration of this apprenticeship to able to apply corporate child protection, health & safety legislation, equal opportunities policies and guidelines that are appropriate to the team.

- The post holder should have the necessary I.T skills needed to fulfill the duties outlined in this job description.
