Job Description
An apprentice farm assistant is required to learn all aspects of farming, including general farm duties, tractor work and milking. Aspects of helping with feeding /watering stock, bedding up, scraping out and general stock handling may also be included.
Personal Qualities :
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude, be willing and hold a level of common sense. The apprentice must not be afraid to be working in a busy environment or to ask questions. It is essential that you are able to commit to early mornings for milking.
Applicants are expected to:
- Have the ability to use own initiative
- Demonstrate a proactive approach
- Be dependable
- Have physical strength to carry out the task
- Able to work with others
- Be good with their hands
- Have a sense of humour
- Punctuality is essential.
Skills Required : Some experience of tractor driving / a license would be prefered, but it is not essential IF the apprentice holds a strong willingness to learn.
Future Prospects : There is the opportunity for a full time vacancy at the end of the apprenticeship training.
