Job Description
Roles and responsibilities include:
Classroom Support
• Support students in curricular time as part of the Core PE programme in Key Stage 3 and 4.
• Support students in curricular time and as part of focused study time with BTEC Sport (Level 2 & 3) qualifications and GCSE PE coursework.
• Assist with use of ICT by students in lessons.
• Support with planning and delivery of Physical Education and Sport activities within each of the feeder primary schools (Hadrian Park, Battle Hill, Stephenson Memorial, Denbigh).
• To undertake other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and its level of responsibility.
Extra-Curricular Programme Support
• Support with at least one extracurricular activity.
• Assist Sports Co-ordinator with primary school festivals and in delivery of programme in feeder primary schools.
Departmental Support.
• Support the department with administrative duties such as registers, creating resources, noticeboards and monitoring assessment documents.
• Support PE technician in organisation of equipment for lessons and the maintenance of equipment and teaching areas
• Support staff and students working in the department in ensuring health and safety procedures are applied to all practical areas of the department
• Support PE technician in maintaining presentation updates and present information for students, including promotion of the college extracurricular programme, curriculum activities, inter-house competitions and celebration of achievements in sport through appropriate presentations (including notice boards, photographs and plasma screen presentations)
• Attend Post 16 Option Evening to promote Sixth Form to parents and students.
• Assist the department with preparation of resources for sports award evening, open evening, sports day and options evenings
Partners into Work
• Attend “Partners into Work†serial days to support students and to take register of attendance.
• Collect and collate paperwork relating to “Partners into Work†off-site visits.
• Work with “Partners into Work†students to ensure they have all details relating to Work Experience placements.
• Liaise with “Partners into Work†Work Experience placement providers via telephone to monitor progress of students on Work Experience placements.
• Update Sixth Form Website/Facebook site with information relating to “Partners into Work†events and Work Experience.
• Update Sixth Form Website/Facebook site with information relating to “Street Games†initiative and ensure that relevant students have relevant information.
• Submit Article on “Partners into Work†for each issue of the College magazine.
• Update “Partners into Work†notice-board at least once per term with information and displays about recent “Partners into Work†events.
Skills Required : The successful applicant must be prepared to consider flexible working hours to support extra-curricular activities and weekend/evening fixtures.Â
The successful candidate will be expected to work during school holidays and may be directed to work as part of the Sport North Tyneside holiday activity programme.
