Job Description

The successful applicant will be part of the Economic Development team, supporting Economic Development Officers in projects and other initiatives to support local businesses assist unemployed people into employment or training and ensure European funding activity meets strict funding criteria.



Duties will include:

• Administrative support linked to a number of projects being planned and delivered by the team, including work to support officers engaged in voluntary and community sector initiatives.

• Support at events organised by the team.

• Updating and maintaining databases

• Preparing and analysing data from specialist software, including sending accurate reports to partners. This will require the use of spreadsheet analysis tools.

• Recommending and implementing agreed improvements to the team’s use of social media to promote and market the town and the Council’s economic development activity.

• Preparing and updating performance indicator data

• Occasional visits to businesses and training providers, including support during European Funding audits.

• Dealing with telephone and email enquiries from a range of service users.

• Provide administrative support for meetings including minute taking, drafting and word processing of agendas, minutes and standard letters



Full training will be provided and the successful candidate will work closely with all team members.

Skills Required : Some experience of administration work

Some experience of working on projects.

Some experience of working in a team

Competent in use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheet analysis and data presentation and Word for report writing, formatting and presentation.

Familiar with responsible use of social media to target messages, including LinkedIn and Twitter.

Ability to use own initiative

Confident when dealing with people either face-to-face or over the phone

Methodical

Ability to work to deadlines

Confident telephone manner

Able to manage conflicting work demands in order to achieve objectives
